That is why it is important that the <strong>rural producer<\/strong> pays attention to the main <strong>indicators<\/strong> in <strong>milk production<\/strong> and <strong>invests in quality products<\/strong> to keep dairy <strong>cattle<\/strong> <strong>healthy<\/strong> and <strong>productive.<\/strong> <\/p>\n<h3>What are dairy cattle indicators?<\/h3>\n<p>These are <strong>numbers<\/strong> generated through <strong>daily notes<\/strong> to know the <strong>essential aspects<\/strong> to consider in the <strong>appreciation<\/strong> of <strong>animal welfare<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<h2><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5920 size-large\" style=\"font-size: 16px;\" src=\"https:\/\/labovet.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/vaca-holandesa-1024x682.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" srcset=\"https:\/\/labovet.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/vaca-holandesa-1024x682.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/labovet.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/vaca-holandesa-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/labovet.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/vaca-holandesa-768x512.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/labovet.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/vaca-holandesa-450x300.jpeg 450w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/h2>\n<h2>WHAT ARE THE CRITERIA FOR EVALUATING THE PERFORMANCE OF A DAIRY FARM<\/h2>\n<p>From the <strong>dairy cattle indicators<\/strong>, there is an <strong>assertive analysis<\/strong> and control of these data to realize which aspects need to be reevaluated on the property to <strong>maximize<\/strong> <strong>animal reproductive efficiency<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>implementation<\/strong> of <strong>strategies<\/strong> is carried out based on <strong>indicators of great value<\/strong>, such as criteria for evaluating the performance of a dairy herd property, such as:<\/p>\n<h3>Production per lactating cow<\/h3>\n<p>Daily <strong>milk production<\/strong> and the <strong>number of cows<\/strong> will <strong>make up<\/strong> this <strong>indicator.<\/strong> It evaluates the <strong>economic process<\/strong> according to the animal&#8217;s production efficiency: <strong>liters\/lactating cow\/day<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n<p>According to <strong>Embrapa <\/strong>data, the <a href=\"https:\/\/censoagro2017.ibge.gov.br\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">national average<\/a> of production per animal verified in <strong>2020<\/strong> was <strong>2,192 liters\/cow\/year<\/strong>, an increase of 2.37% compared to 2019. Among the <strong>states<\/strong> with the <strong>highest yields<\/strong>, <strong>Santa Catarina<\/strong> stood out, milking <strong>3,716 liters\/cow\/year<\/strong>, <strong>Rio Grande do Sul, with 3,695 liters\/cow<\/strong> and <strong>Paran\u00e1,<\/strong> with <strong>3,490 liters\/cow\/year<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p>Based on the <strong>principle<\/strong> that dairy cows need to be in <strong>perfect nutritional<\/strong> and <strong>health status,<\/strong> the production indicator per lactating cow is essential to <strong>measure the quality of the herd<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>As an example of this, there is <strong>the Holstein cow<\/strong>, <strong>Fini Renegade Beatrix<\/strong> , champion of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.agroleitecastrolanda.com.br\/pt-br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Agroleite<\/a> production tournament, from which it produces more than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canalrural.com.br\/noticias\/pecuaria\/conheca-a-vaca-que-produz-mais-de-100-litros-de-leite-por-dia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">100 liters of milk in a single day<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, it is important to know the <strong>average daily milk production of the animal<\/strong> to understand <strong>advantages<\/strong> and possible <strong>profits<\/strong> with periodic control.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5923 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/labovet.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/tetas-vacas.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" srcset=\"https:\/\/labovet.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/tetas-vacas.jpg 800w, https:\/\/labovet.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/tetas-vacas-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/labovet.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/tetas-vacas-768x513.jpg 768w, https:\/\/labovet.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/tetas-vacas-450x300.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Lactating cows in relation to the total herd<\/h3>\n<p>The <strong>ideal percentage<\/strong> of lactating cows in a herd&#8217;s total is <strong>83%.<\/strong> This average is the result of an ideal lactation period, being 10 months, divided by the calving interval (12 months). <\/p>\n<p>In this <strong>indicator,<\/strong> the <strong>total number of lactating cows<\/strong> is <strong>divided<\/strong> by the <strong>number of animals on the property<\/strong>, such as <strong>lactating<\/strong> <strong>cows<\/strong>, suckler calves, <strong>breeders,<\/strong> <strong>dry cows<\/strong> and <strong>heifers.<\/strong> After the result of the mathematical operation, the number found is multiplied by 100.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>analysis<\/strong> to be made with this indicator is related to <strong>the potential of the rural property<\/strong> in generating <strong>income<\/strong> and <strong>profitability.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to <strong>Veterinarian<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/anagabrielapostalli2020\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Ana Gabriela Postalli<\/a>, who works in the <strong>southern<\/strong> region of Brazil, the percentage of <strong>lactating cows varies<\/strong> according to the <strong>profile<\/strong> of the      <strong>property.<\/strong>  Many producers leave the <strong>largest number of lactating cows in winter<\/strong>, where the amount of <strong>milk and the price are higher<\/strong>, thus increasing the number of <strong>dry cows in seasons<\/strong> of <strong>higher temperature<\/strong>, where <strong>heat stress is greater<\/strong> and <strong>pasture production is not so abundant<\/strong>, consequently <strong>decreasing<\/strong> <strong>milk production.<br \/>\n<\/strong>Remembering that the time period of a lactating cow is ten months and the ideal period of drying the cow, two months.    <\/p>\n<h2>Have you ever stopped to think about how many liters of milk are produced per hectare?<\/h2>\n<p>This is the indicator of production by area used for dairy farming. It divides the annual milk production by the area destined for milk production.
