Canine parvovirus, the main cause of intestinal infections in domestic dogs under the age of 6 months (GODDARD; LEISEWITZ, 2010), is an infectious disease caused by canine parvovirus type 2 (CPV-2) (RODRIGUES; MOLINARI, 2018), characterized by hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, and signs such as prostration, vomiting, anorexia, and diarrhea (MORAES; COSTA, 2007). According to Bird; Tappin (2013), since its emergence in 1978, the disease has been and continues to be an important cause of morbidity and mortality in young dogs.
